Church Constitution: Article IV - Organization

Pastor
It shall be the duty of the pastor to be ex-officio member of boards and committees, direct the services of worship, visit the sick and troubled, and administer the ordinances. The pastoral office may be vacated either by:
  1. resignation on the part of the pastor accepted by the church
  2. upon the recommendation of the Official Church Board or the Board of Deacons confirmed by a vote of three-fourths majority of the active members present at a special meeting of the church. Either party shall give 60 days notice of intended dissolution unless upon special agreement of both parties. In the event of a pastoral vacancy a special meeting shall be called by the moderator to act upon the dissolution and to elect a pulpit committee (of three or five church members) to seek a new pastor. This committee shall make its report to the church.
When voting on a new minister, the members vote a minimum of 48 hours after the trial sermon. - Amended April 18, 1999
Moderator
The moderator shall preside at all business meetings of the church and shall be elected by the church for the term of one year. The moderator may meet with boards and committees as an ex-officio member. The moderator shall vote only in case of a tie. The moderator shall also name a nominating committee for church officers of five members and approved by the church at the April quarterly meeting.
Vice-Moderator
The vice-moderator shall be elected by the church for a term of one year, and shall serve in the absence of the moderator.
Clerk
The church clerk shall be elected by the church for a term of one year and shall keep an accurate, up-to-date record of resident and non-resident members. The clerk shall record the minutes of the business meetings, and prepare annual denominational and associational letters and reports. Upon the church's instruction, the clerk shall receive and grant letters of membership or transfer.
Assistant Clerk
The assistant church clerk shall be elected by the church for a term of one year and shall serve in the absence of the clerk.
Treasurer
The church treasurer shall be elected by the church for a term of one year. The treasurer receives all money to pay the obligations as authorized by the church budget, the church finance committee, or as directed by vote of the church. The treasurer shall keep a systematic account of all funds and render quarterly and annual reports at the regular business meetings.
Assistant Treasurer
The assistant treasurer shall be elected by the church for a term of one year, and shall assist and serve in the absence of the treasurer.
Superintendent of Church School
The superintendent of the church school shall be elected by the church for a term of one year with term of office beginning with the church school year. He/She shall supervise the church school

The assistant superintendent of church school shall be elected by the church for a term of one year and shall serve in the absence of the superintendent
